Prayer for Ukraine
March 5, 2022
We pray for peace and protection to every soul in and from Ukraine, every soul traumatized,
injured, afraid, having lost loved ones and or their home, including 200,000 Jews.
Ukraine has such a rich history: Different faith traditions, including Chasidic masters such as
Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev, Rebbe Nachman of Bratzlav, the Baal Shem Tov. So many who
have shaped our spiritual tradition, in addition to many of our own families sharing roots from present day Ukraine.
We pray for peace in Ukraine:
Holy One of Blessing,
End war and danger for your people in and from Ukraine.
Grant peace, wholeness to each person and family dispersed, afraid, injured or suffering loss of a loved one.
May nation not lift a hand against another.
May all who dwell on earth recognize that we have not been put on this earth to struggle with one another, nor for hate, jealousy or bloodshed.
Rather we have been placed here to recognize You God and Your blessing.
God, we pray the charge of Rebbe Nachman reaches each Ukranian-
Do not despair!
May Justice and righteousness flow like a mighty stream.
May Your peace, God, fill the Earth as waters fill the sea.
Maker of Peace, may you cause security, togetherness, strength and hope to prevail in Ukraine, and in the mind of all involved, speedily and soon.
Amen.
-JudiAhavah DelBourgo, partly inspired and translated from Siddur Lev Shalem, which was recorded originally by Rabbi Nathan Sternharz, student of
Rabbi Nachman of Bratzlav.
So many of us are so moved by stories of Ukranians affected by Russian invasion. We send our prayers.
